Perimeter of rectangle

Rectangle is a four-sided polygon having two dimensions i.e. length and breadth.

Formula of Perimeter:

Perimeter of a rectangle = sum of four sides

= AB + BC + CD + AD

= length + breadth + length + breadth

= 2 length + 2 breadth

Then, we will get:

Perimeter of a rectangle = 2 × (length + breadth)

Question for practice :

1. Find perimeter of rectangle whose length is 16 m and breadth 12 m . 

Length=16 m

Breadth=12 m

Perimeter of rectangle= 2( l+b) 

                                         = 2(16+12) 

                                          = 2(28) =56m


2. Find perimeter of rectangle whose  A rectangular swimming pool is 9 m long and 4 m broad. Find the area of the swimming pool.

Length of the rectangular swimming pool = 

9 m

Breadth of the rectangular swimming pool = 4 m

Therefore, perimeter of the rectangle swimming pool   = 2 (length + breadth) 

                               = 2 (9 + 4) m

                                = 2 (13) m

                                 = 26 m

We know that all the sides of a square are equal and hence, its perimeter will be 4 times its side, i.e. 4 × Side.
