Perimeter of square

 PERIMETER OF SQUARE

The perimeter of square is calculated by adding its four sides. We know that all the sides of a square are equal and hence, its perimeter will be 4 times its side, i.e. 4 × Side.

The formula for Perimeter of a Square

Perimeter of Square (P) = 4 × Side

Where side is length of

the side of square.

Example:

1. Find the perimeter of a square whose side      is 4cm.

Sol:  side =4cm

       Perimeter of square= 4×4= 16cm

2.Find the perimeter of a square whose side     is 5 cm.

Sol:   side= 5cm

         Perimeter of square= 4×5 =20cm

3.Calculate the perimeter of a square               having a side of 15 cm.

Sol: side =15cm

       Perimeter of square= 4×15= 60cm

4. If the perimeter of a square is 64 cm,            find its side.

Sol: perimeter of square=64cm

       Perimeter of square= 4×side

     Side = 1/4× Perimeter of square

     Side = 1/4×64

     Side =16cm
